The newly announced shows include 11 U.S. cities and one Canadian city, with Limp Bizkit and Avatar joining Metallica as support acts. The tour is being promoted by Live Nation.

Metallica Will Return to Stadiums With Its M72 Stage Setup
The 2027 concerts will continue the distinctive stadium format associated with the M72 World Tour.
Metallica is advertising the shows as “in the round at the 50 yard line,” placing the stage in a central position on the football field rather than at one end of the stadium.
The setup allows the band to perform from the middle of the venue and gives fans views from multiple sides of the stage.
The format has been a defining feature of the M72 Tour since it began in 2023.
Las Vegas Sphere Residency Comes First
Before Metallica begins its 2027 North American stadium run, the band will have a major residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
The “Life Burns Faster” residency is scheduled to run from October 1, 2026, through March 13, 2027, with 24 shows planned.
After the residency ends, Metallica will have roughly two months before its next North American stadium show in Vancouver on May 8.
That puts the Sphere residency directly ahead of the next major North American chapter of the M72 World Tour.
Metallica Returns to Buffalo in 2027
One of the stops on the new schedule is Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, New York, where Metallica will perform on June 8, 2027.
The concert will mark Metallica’s first show in Western New York since 2022.
The band previously performed in the Buffalo area in 2022 at the former stadium, with Greta Van Fleet and Ice Nine Kills serving as opening acts.
Metallica also has a longer history in Buffalo, having performed at the old stadium in 1988 and 1992.
The 2027 concert will therefore bring the band back to the region while also marking its announced appearance at the new Highmark Stadium, the home venue of the Buffalo Bills.

M72 World Tour Has Reached Millions of Fans
Metallica launched the M72 World Tour in April 2023, and the trek has since expanded across multiple continents.
According to the Buffalo Bills’ announcement, the tour has reached 26 countries and 99 shows, with approximately 5 million Metallica fans attending M72 concerts so far.
The band has also played major European dates during the tour, including two shows at London Stadium on July 3 and July 5, 2025.
The 2027 North American dates will extend the tour into another stadium-heavy chapter.
Limp Bizkit and Avatar Join the North American Run
Metallica will be joined on the 2027 North American shows by Limp Bizkit and Avatar.
The two acts will serve as support performers across the newly announced stadium run, adding another major rock and metal lineup to the M72 dates.
The combination of Metallica’s central stadium stage and multiple support acts will form the basic format for the 2027 North American concerts.
A Portion of Every Ticket Sale Will Support Local Charities
Metallica’s touring plans also include a charitable component through its All Within My Hands (AWMH) foundation.
A portion of every ticket sold will be directed to local charities through the foundation.
Established in 2017, All Within My Hands is a nonprofit philanthropic organization created by Metallica’s members and management.
The foundation supports workforce education, hunger relief and other critical local services. Metallica covers the organization’s administrative costs.
According to the foundation, its work has so far included:
- $19 million toward career and technical education programs through the Metallica Scholars Initiative.
- $8.8 million toward efforts addressing food insecurity.
- $6.2 million for disaster relief and other critical local services.
The charitable initiative will continue alongside the band’s 2027 touring schedule.
Metallica Enters a Period of Major Album Anniversaries
The new tour announcement also comes during a period filled with important anniversaries in Metallica’s catalog.
In 2026, the band’s landmark album “Master of Puppets” reaches its 40th anniversary.
Metallica’s self-titled “Metallica” album, commonly known as the Black Album, also reaches its 35th anniversary in 2026.
The band’s “Hardwired… to Self-Destruct” album marks 10 years since its release in 2026.
In 2027, another major milestone arrives when “Reload” reaches its 30th anniversary.
With the Las Vegas Sphere residency running into March 2027 and the M72 stadium tour beginning in May, Metallica’s schedule will continue to stretch well into the band’s next anniversary period.
