Taylor Swift Announces ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’ With Four New Songs

Taylor Swift is expanding her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl with a new edition featuring four additional songs. Titled The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the release is scheduled to arrive on Friday, September 25, with “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon” joining the original album’s 12 tracks.
The announcement came on Wednesday, September 23, less than a day after Swift revealed that “Patient Zero” would be released as a new single. The expanded album brings that track together with three previously unannounced songs.
Taylor Swift Reveals the Four New Songs
The four additions to The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore are:
“Patient Zero”
“Cleveland!”
“Pink Clouding”
“Babylon”
The tracks are listed as numbers 13 through 16 on the expanded edition, according to its pre-order listings. The original album contained 12 songs, meaning the new version will feature 16 tracks in total.
Swift announced the project through social media, describing the new material as songs written after the original album’s release rather than tracks left over from its initial recording sessions.
Why Swift Wrote More Songs After the Album’s Release
In her announcement, Swift said she travelled to Sweden to celebrate the success of The Life of a Showgirl with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback.
She explained that the group had initially intended to reflect on the album’s reception and express gratitude for the response from fans. However, with a recording studio available, they began writing new music.
Swift said the songs came from “pure gratitude” for fans’ enthusiasm and celebration of the album.
The explanation distinguishes The Encore from a conventional collection of songs that did not make the original tracklist. According to Swift, the four tracks were created after the album’s release, during the celebration with Martin and Shellback.
‘The Encore’ Arrives Nearly a Year After ‘Showgirl’
The Life of a Showgirl was released in October 2025. Swift’s new edition follows nearly a year later, adding fresh material to the project rather than replacing its original 12-song sequence.
The release also reunites Swift with Martin and Shellback. Before Showgirl, she had not worked with the pair since 2018’s Reputation, according to Variety.
The new songs will be available digitally on Friday, September 25. The project is currently being promoted as an expanded edition, but a physical CD or vinyl release has not been announced in the reports available at the time of the announcement.
Fans Had Been Speculating About a Different Release
Swift’s recent activity had prompted speculation among fans that she might be preparing to release Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version), potentially connected to the 20th anniversary of her debut album in October.
A pre-taped Law & Order: SVU-themed sketch during the 2026 Emmy Awards also fuelled theories. In the segment, Swift’s character said that what they were looking for was “hiding in plain sight,” followed by several phrases fans tried to decode.
The announcement of The Encore has now revealed that her immediate project is an expanded version of The Life of a Showgirl. It does not, by itself, establish whether Swift has other releases planned for later in the year.
‘Patient Zero’ Will Be Part of the Expanded Album
Swift first announced “Patient Zero” on Tuesday, September 22. Its inclusion on The Encore clarifies that the single is arriving alongside the three other new songs as part of the expanded release.
That means listeners will not have to wait for a separate album announcement to hear the remaining tracks: all four are scheduled to arrive with The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore on Friday.
The new edition extends the Showgirl tracklist from 12 songs to 16, while keeping the original album at the centre of the project. Swift has described the additional material as a response to the success and fan reception of the 2025 release.
