Jax Taylor Claims Brittany Cartwright Tried to Push Him Toward Relapse Amid Legal Battle
Jax Taylor says his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, made comments he believes were intended to undermine his sobriety as their ongoing legal dispute continues.
Jax Taylor has accused Brittany Cartwright of trying to push him toward a relapse, according to statements included in court documents from their ongoing restraining-order dispute.
Taylor, who says he has been sober for nearly two years, claims Cartwright repeatedly made insulting and hurtful comments that were intended to intimidate him and undermine his recovery.
In his filing, Taylor alleged that the comments were so damaging that he felt they were intended to “make me relapse.”
Taylor also described comments he says Cartwright made about his career, friendships and relationship with their son.
According to his account, she told him he would never work again and should leave their lives. He also claims she told him, “Your son doesn’t want you.”
Taylor disputes those claims and says he remains committed to his sobriety and his relationship with his son.
Jax Taylor says he relied on lessons from rehab
Taylor said his experience in rehab helped him deal with the alleged comments without allowing them to derail his recovery.
He maintains that he loves his son and has no interest in hurting Cartwright.
His allegations come as the former couple remain involved in a broader legal dispute. Taylor has filed his own petition seeking a restraining order against Cartwright and wants the court to prevent her from contacting him or interfering with his business opportunities.
He has also alleged that Cartwright made damaging statements about him and contacted people connected to potential work opportunities.
Taylor claims those actions contributed to him losing a role on Fox’s Special Forces, which he says would have paid $175,000 and represented an important opportunity for his professional comeback.
Jax’s lawyer escalates the allegations
Taylor’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, has separately accused Cartwright of attempting to undermine Taylor’s sobriety.
Kaplan argued that Taylor had remained sober and continued to pass drug tests after completing rehab. He characterized Cartwright’s alleged conduct as an effort to “beat him down” during the legal conflict.
The lawyer also challenged Cartwright’s request for restrictions involving Taylor’s custody rights, arguing that she had not attempted to impose similar restrictions during the previous year.
These are allegations made by Taylor and his legal team. Cartwright’s side has its own position in the ongoing dispute, and the claims have not been established as facts by a court.
The couple’s legal dispute follows their divorce
Taylor and Cartwright met in Las Vegas in 2015 and married in 2019. They have one son, Cruz, who was born in 2021.
The couple separated and filed for divorce in 2024. Their custody arrangement was finalized in March 2026.
The latest legal battle has now expanded beyond their divorce and custody issues, with both sides making competing claims about their interactions and Taylor’s conduct.
Taylor’s latest filing makes clear that sobriety is one of the central issues for him. He says he has worked to maintain his recovery and wants the court to allow him to move forward without what he describes as continued harassment.
“I just want the truth to prevail,” Taylor said in his filing, while asking Cartwright to stop what he describes as abusive behavior and allow him to live his life in peace.
The court will ultimately determine how the competing allegations affect the parties’ ongoing legal proceedings.
