Stephen Kalyn Lands Major ‘Housemaid’s Secret’ Role After ‘Off Campus’ Breakout
Stephen Kalyn is taking his next major step in Hollywood after breaking out as Dean Di Laurentis in Prime Video’s hit romance series Off Campus. Kalyn has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s upcoming psychological thriller The Housemaid’s Secret, the sequel to the 2025 film The Housemaid.
He will play Brock, Millie Calloway’s lawyer boyfriend, in the new movie, putting the rising actor alongside Sydney Sweeney, Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow, Michele Morrone and Paul Anthony Kelly. Lionsgate announced the casting on Aug. 31, 2026.
The casting is a significant follow-up for Kalyn because his profile rose sharply with Off Campus. The Prime Video series reached 36 million viewers worldwide during its first 12 days, according to Amazon, making it the streamer’s third-most-watched debut season, behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout. Kalyn plays Dean Di Laurentis in the series, and his character is set to become one of the central figures of Season 2 alongside Mika Abdalla’s Allie Hayes. The second season is adapting The Score, the third book in Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus series.
In The Housemaid’s Secret, Kalyn’s Brock has a very different role from Dean. Brock is a lawyer who becomes Millie’s boyfriend as she attempts to rebuild her life, unaware of the criminal history she has kept hidden.
The movie follows Millie after she accepts a housekeeping job for a wealthy family and becomes increasingly suspicious when she hears the unseen woman of the house behind a locked door. The mystery eventually pulls Millie back into a dangerous situation where the secrets inside the home may be darker than anything she has previously encountered.
Sydney Sweeney returns as Millie, while The Housemaid’s Secret adds Kirsten Dunst to the franchise as the mysterious Mrs. Garrick. Paul Anthony Kelly plays Douglas Garrick, Brittany Snow plays Marybeth and Michele Morrone returns as Enzo from the first movie. The sequel is based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel and is being directed by Paul Feig, who returns after directing the first film. Rebecca Sonnenshine, who adapted the first book, is also back as screenwriter.
The sequel is arriving after the original The Housemaid became a major theatrical success. The first film, starring Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, earned nearly $400 million worldwide, helping turn McFadden’s book series into a potential film franchise. Lionsgate has already scheduled The Housemaid’s Secret for a Dec. 17, 2027 theatrical release.
For Kalyn, the timing makes the casting especially notable. His transition from Off Campus’s breakout Dean Di Laurentis to a major Lionsgate thriller gives him two highly visible projects aimed at overlapping young-adult and mainstream entertainment audiences. With Off Campus Season 2 also putting Dean and Allie at the center of the story, Kalyn now has both a returning streaming hit and a high-profile theatrical sequel on his upcoming slate.
